Advent 2021 – Questions of Christmas

Even the original characters of the Christmas story had trouble comprehending the full glory of what was happening. Perhaps their journey of overcoming doubt can help us with our journey.

Service times are on Sundays at 10:30 am unless otherwise noted.

December 5: Advent 2 – Peace – “How will this be?” (Luke 1:34) When we look at certain parts of our world we despair of ever seeing peace. In a world broken with suffering and pain how will the seemingly impossible prove to be possible?

November 28: Advent 1 – Hope – “How can I be sure of this? (Luke 1:18) Sometimes the good news that can bring us hope sounds more like a fantasy than fact. How much evidence do we need before we believe and trust? We want as we move through Advent to be sure of a very real hope.

December 5, 6:30 pm: Old Fashioned Christmas Caroling service

December 12: Advent 3 – Joy – Join our choir as they share a cantata called “A New Birth, A New Beginning”.

December 19: Advent 4 – Love – But why am I so favoured? (Luke 1:43) “You don’t know what you’ve got till its gone .” These lyrics from a Joni Mitchell song remind us that we don’t always fully appreciate what we have. We learn of Grace that is evidence of God’s love.

December 24, 6:30 pm: Advent 5 – Christ – Christmas Eve Candlelight Family Service “Where’s Jesus?” In the Christmas celebrations he can sometimes be hard to find. We want to have Jesus in his rightful place, at the centre.

December 26 – Heaven’s Answer. This season we have looked at the questions that arouse from the main characters of the original Christmas. Questions still arise. The good news is that Heaven has answered and continues to answer.

January 2: Epiphany – A Light for Revelation (Luke 2:25-35)
