Gala Fundraising Night

Saturday, October 22, 2016 – 6:00-8:30pm

We will be hosting a Gala Fundraising Night to raise funds for our elevator.

The night will include a sale of fancy note cards, floral arrangements and elegant garage sale items starting at 6:00.

Then there will be a choirs concert with our own choir, Mandarin Choir, The Mimico Children’s Choir and guests including the Gospel Projekt from 7:00 to 8:15.  This will be followed by a continuation of the sale, including free beverages, and the sale of baked goodies.  During the concert there will be a freewill offering instead of admission.

Please plan to be part of this fun and important night, and pray that people’s hearts are open to attending and to giving generously to this worthy cause.

Business Donations

You can help!  We are offering advertisements in the program to businesses who wish to donate towards the lift.   Many businesses are looking for ways to contribute to their community and receive charitable receipts for this. We have available forms that explain how worthy our cause is, and the benefits of donating.

All you need to do is provide this opportunity to places you frequent:  grocery stores, car repair shops, coffee shops, dentists, pharmacies, flower shops – the more you think the more you’ll come up with.  It can’t hurt to ask!  If you are shy, just give them the form and let it do the talking for you. We already have several local businesses on board. Names will be put in the foyer so that we don’t all ask the same people.

Speak to Jan Thomas with any questions, or if you have items you would like to add to the sale (as long as you give some of the profits to the elevator fund).

Elegant Garage Sale

As part of our Gala Fundraising Night to raise funds for our Accessibility Project on Saturday, October 22, we will have an “Elegant Garage Sale.” In keeping with this theme, we are seeking donated items that are attractive, and in pristine condition.

Some buyers may be looking for things to give as gifts; therefore, it is important to offer goods that are clean, polished, not damaged or missing parts, and in good working order. Furthermore, we can charge more for things in good condition.

Here is a list of things we DO NOT need:

  • Pots & Pans
  • Furniture, rugs, curtains, floor lamps, large planters
  • Electronics/Appliances
  • Sports Equipment
  • Toys
  • Board Games
  • Clothing, Shoes
  • Books, Magazines
  • Large art work

If further advice is needed, please speak to Dorrette.

NB: Please bring items on Sundays – leave in the library and label them “Elegant Garage Sale”.
